www.ToddGerber.net

Welcome to the second iteration of my website, which has changed in style and format since the first version came into being in the final days of 2004.

I have created this site not because I am the authority on any of these topics, but simply because I find some joy in knowing that others may share in these interests.  As you might surmise, I am a strong believer in education, and the first few topics to the left evidence this.  As a perpetual student, most recently completing an LL.M. in Intellectual Property, the first two links address the law school experience and IP issues.  The next two are oriented more to those presently looking at their collegiate options and activities to enhance their application.

The amusement park history section provides history and photos of the parks that used to exist, and in the rare case survive, in the Ohio area.  The books and writing section presently acts as a "Gerber Books Review," but is presently building to include a market guide for short stories as well.

I've just added a GRE Prep page for those that are considering graduate school.  Although you'll need more than just the page to get a great score, hopefully this will get you started.

Please feel free to contact me if you wish to comment on any of this content, or if you feel it would be enhanced by something you've written.  Thanks for stopping by!

Favorite Websites

If you're sitting in front of your computer surfing the net, you may want to check out these sites:

  • The Alex Foundation:  As an African Grey parrot owner myself, I enjoy reading about Alex and his ability to learn shapes, numbers, and colors.  My Watson isn't quite there, but he plays catch like a champ, likes to cuddle, and chats up a storm when he finds a willing conversationalist!  UPDATE:  Alex passed away in September 2007, his last words being, "You be good.  See you tomorrow.  I love you."

  • Angry Alien Productions - Bunny Theatre:  I love this website!  These folks have created numerous reenactments of our favorite movies - using cartoon bunnies in a 30-second format.  Try not to laugh!

  • BBC - Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Game:  Back in the mid-80s, the novels were adapted to a text adventure game by Infocom, and I remember spending endless hours trying to figure out what to do with pocket fluff.  The BBC has resurrected the game and added pictures as well.  Block out the weekend for this one!

  • ChordHouse:  I am fulfilling a resolution made annually back into the early nineties by finally learning how to play the guitar.  This is a great website to teach chords, or just to ensure that the sound coming out of your guitar is the right one!

  • A Christmas Story House:  The season has just ended, but the quotes from this movie are valid all year long.  I absolutely love this movie for the way it brings nostalgia back into my Christmas, and although I haven't yet made the pilgrimage to this house (restored from the film), I'll eventually get there.  For fans of the film, you may also want to check out the 30-second Bunny version here.

  • Just Give: A friend used this site to generate Christmas gifts for a few folks in the office, and I thought it was a great idea.  Within this site, you can make a direct gift to a multitude of charities, some that you know well and others that you've never heard of.  You can also, as Kricket did, purchase a gift certificate and allow someone else to determine where to donate.

  • Ohio Learning Network:  This is great site, especially for those of us looking for an academic option outside of the traditional on-campus day student timing.

  • Oyez:  I've just recently discovered this site, which contains audio files and transcripts of Supreme Court cases.  It is quite interesting to listen to the oral arguments on those cases you may have studied in law school or just read about in the paper.

  • Radio Margaritaville:  Nothing cures the winter blues like a little bit of Buffett, and this site offers streaming audio of Jimmy's concerts and new artists.
