This park started in the 1870s and
added its scenic railway in 1908. I lived less than a mile from this park
when the ballroom burned in early 1979, but unfortunately, at eight years old, I
was unable to appreciate what had been loss. A new history of the park has
recently been published with all proceeds going to the Community Services of
